Rhonda F. Harris founder of R.F. & Associates, Inc. teamed up with the San Francisco Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mental Health Department in 2011. They developed a partnership program to provide homeless veterans enrolled in the Mental Health treatment programs with housing services. The program ensures those veterans who need intensive mental health treatment with stable and secure housing who otherwise be unable to access that care due to unstable living environments. RFA realized it was unlikely that veterans will commit to attending mental health groups 3-5 times per week or receive psychological treatment when their primary focus is on staking out a tent site, applying for a shelter bed, or waiting in line at a soup kitchen . RFA provides veterans with a private room, three meals per day, and snacks in a clean, secure and sober living environments. This allows our veterans to work with mental health providers to address their psychosocial needs, continue to remain engaged in care, address barriers and work on permanent housing solutions and address their psychological needs.
